Chartres Labyrinth by Angela Vogt, 2011

AQ 1781 = τρωϊκός αστεροειδής = Chartres labyrinth is the halo of ornamentation that surrounds the outer circuit of the labyrinth (Chartres Cathedral Labyrinth - FAQ) = Lobster on the Monas Frontispiece represents Cancer (Zodiac sign) & brought up other tidbits. I need coffee.

(Les langues occultes de la Renaissance) = The ‘I’'s response is as if to a nebulous command. Nothing says that the other gave a de facto command. The command or summons is part of the intrinsic relationality. With the response comes the beginning of language as dialogue. The origin of language, for Levinas, is always response—a responding-to-another, that is, to her summons. Dialogue arises ultimately through that response. Herein lie the roots of intersubjectivity as lived immediacy. (SEP: Emmanuel Levinas).

AQ 6368 = The Labyrinth or lieue in the nave at Chartres is one of the most remarkable of the few now left in existence. It is made of stones of two colours, the white stones being 13 ⅜ inches in width and the blue ones 3 ⅛. On the former were engraved the verses of Psalm li. The diameter measures 40 feet 6 inches, or, including the border, 42 feet, and this gives a lineal surface for devotional use of about 600 feet. (The City of Chartres) = Heidegger says that we live in, and in fact are nothing but, a "clearing" (Lichtung) in the midst of Being, which seems to imply that around this clearing Being is still a dark jungle. What is more, it is not given to human being or thinking to force its way into Being, but it is primarily Being itself which reveals itself to thinking by its own initiative, its speaking to us (Zuspruch). (Herbert Spiegelberg, The Phenomenological Movement).
