Ephesians 5:22

Virtually all critical editions of the Greek NT, including the NA27, UBS4, Nestle, Wescott and Hort, Tasker, Souter, Alford, Tischendorf, and Goodrich and Lukaszewski (2003) follow ℘⁴⁶ B Cl1/2 Origen Greek mssacc. to Jerome in having no verb in Eph 5:22. Verse 21 expresses the verb “submit” that must be supplied for verse 22. Later manuscripts add the imperative “submit” to Eph 5:22 either as a second or third person plural after either “women” or “men.”

Kinda rearended {the usual back-assed approach} into Ephesians 5:22's "disappearing verb" (ὑποτάσσεσθε) checking all versions of hupotasso (or, hypotasso; ὑποτάσσω). Bible Hub notes ὑποτάσσεσθε only occurs in Colossians 3:18 [cf. Colossians (ed. Brooke Foss Westcott, Fenton John Anthony Hort)]; and that hupotasso has 38 OccurrencesEphesians 5:22 isn't on that list (on that last link, scroll down to view various Greek versions). However, most English versions & commentaries use some form of "submit". But also note, Bible Hub's Text Analysis for Ephesians 5:22 uses a Greek version that does not include ὑποτάσσεσθε, but the KJV Lexicon indicates υποτασσεσθε as verb - present middle imperative - second person.

Blue Letter Bible [KJV, using Textus Receptus]: Ephesians 5:22 uses ὑποτάσσεσθε, from Strong's G5293: ὑποτάσσω, which notes: "Strong's Number G5293 matches the Greek ὑποτάσσω (hypotassō), which occurs 49 times in 32 verses in the Greek concordance of the KJV" & Ephesians 5:22 is included on that list.

Bible Wheel: Ephesians 5:22
Bk [49] · Chpt [5] · Vs [22] · Version [TR-Scriv] / [NA27]

At Bible Wheel, (for TR-Scriv), the table on the left is Strong's—in this case: G5293 hupotasso (υποτασσω); and the table on the right is the actual Greek (υποτασσεσθε). If you're a non-Greek reader like me: PLAY (the Strong #) can be playing, played, player, players, play-time, actor, work, play-thing, &c (or how PLAY is actually used in a specific phrase).

TR-Scriv—where υποτασσεσθε is listed; the phrase value = 6920 (where Ephesians 5:22 is listed); compared to NA27—where υποτασσεσθε is not listed; phrase value = 5450 (Ephesians 5:22 is not listed).
