Enochian Dictionary: Octal

Angelic gematria, Josh Norton » Octal

every time i work the enochian system always wonder about the gematria. GemCalc includes five Enochian Gematria systems: Aleister Crowely, Aurum Solis, Golden Dawn Geomancy, Golden Dawn, Greek & Octal. Octal Gematria in the Enochian Dictionary (this list shows Decimal and Octal values) by Benjamin Rowe (Josh Norton), where X {letter} - 9 {decimal} - (9) {octal}:

B=1 (1), C=2 (2), K=2 (2), G=3 (3), D=4 (4), F=5 (5), A=6 (6), E=7 (7), M=8 (10), I=16 (20), Y=16 (20), H=24 (30), L=32 (40), P=40 (50), Q=48 (60), N=56 (70), X=64 (100), O=128 (200), R=192 (300), Z=256 (400), V=320 (500), U=320 (500), S=384 (600), T=448 (700) ~ the only thing i might add to this is zero since Octal is a base-8 number system using numbers 0 to 7. note: for an octal counting calculator, i think, you can set the actual Octal values instead of using Decimal representations (eg, decimal 8 equals octal 10, decimal 418 equals octal 642).

it really helps to know how to count in Octal (please don't make me explain why Octal jumps from 7 to 10, 17 to 20… 77 to 100, 777 to 1000 &c). if, like me, you don't know how to count in Octal here's some converters & Decimal to Octal chart.

a Decimal representation system is helpful using Excel & GemCalc, which both count in decimal. note: Excel converts using DEC2OCT or OCT2DEC.

in GemCalc, set number values: 0=0, 1=1, 2=2, 3=3, 4=4, 48=60, 49=61, 5=5, 6=6, 7=7, 8=10 (10 is Octal value for 8), 9=11 (11 is Octal value for 9) ~ since 48 & 49 are important numbers in the Enochian system, decided to plug in these Octal values. OCT 1646 = ANGELORUM BONORUM 49 = TABULA BONORUM. whether 1, 2, 3 or 11 digits, Octal numbers never use 8 or 9. since the alphabet is set to the decimal values in Norton's Octal gematria, 8 & 9 are also set to their octal values, but if this was for an octal calculator i think: 8=0 & 9=0.

so, while O=128 (200) isn't a valid Octal number, 128 (Dec) is a valid decimal representation for that letter since 128=200 in Octal. WinCalc Scientific view: select

**Dec**, enter

**128**, select

**Oct**: converts to

**200**. clear & select

**Dec**, enter

**200**, select

**Oct**: converts to

**310**. note: in WinCalc,

**8**&

**9**are disabled for Oct & it "beeps" at me when pasting numbers containing 8 or 9.

Excel/GemCalc (and Enochian Dictionary, btw) adds—

CHRISTEOS: 2+24+192+16+384+448+7+128+384 = 1585

WinCalc Scientific: select

**Dec**

*adding these numbers as decimals = 2459 (Dec) & 4633 (Oct)*

Octal column in Enochian Dictionary are the "decimal representations" of octal values (you can tell because there are 8s & 9s in those numbers). while these are not valid Octal numbers they are decimal representations that can be converted to the correct Octal values.

when i first setup Octal: does it start with 0 or 1? 7-lettered names of the Bonorum create 7 rings, but Octal values generate eight diagonals — which means there aren't enough planets.

† column represents the original (horizontal) planetary assignments.

‡ column represents the Octal (diagonal) planetary assignments.

each sector maintains the same diagonal order (they do not rotate like Bonorum): Venus, [?], Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Mercury, Saturn, Moon. horizontally, Kings {1·8·15·22·29·36·43} & 5-BLUMAPO, 12-BRANGLO &, 19-BRAGIOP maintain original planets on the diagonals.

group by 7 ("8th" blank sector is missing Venus), each sector (a) has a missing planet, & (b) missing planet is in the next position. 1st sector: Sun; 2nd: Mars; 3rd: Jupiter; 4th: Mercury; 5th: Saturn; 6th: Moon; 7th: [?].
