Happy Solstice! 21-Jun-2011 @ 17:16 UT

AQ 709 = I AM THE VERY MODEL OF A MODERN MAJOR-GENERAL

my current lunar return is Revolution 709, 21-Jun-2011 @ 12:51:51pm & Solstice moon is 0°17'51" from my natal moon.

Return Chart :: A chart erected for the time a planet returns to its position in the natal chart. The most well known return horoscope is the solar return chart which occurs annually on an individual's birthday which is the time that the Sun returns to the position in the natal chart. It is closely related to the theme of self-development - a solar theme - for the year ahead. The lunar chart, which occurs once a month and represents the time that the Moon returns to its natal position, indicates likely emotional developments over the coming month - a lunar theme. Also fairly common are the Mercury return chart, Venus return chart and Mars return chart [Moon's Nodes]. The first two are valid for one year, the latter for two. In each case the themes of the return chart are related to the themes of the eponym - its house position and aspects (the sign is the same as in the natal chart) form the basis for chart interpretation. The natal chart should always be taken into account when interpreting return charts. Further details on the subject can be found under the heading Solar Return Chart.

Dane Rudhyar - The Practice of Astrology - Step Ten :: The Sun and the Moon make their transits around the birth-chart respectively in a year and in a lunar month (271/2 days). It is often possible to establish a connection between the passage of the Sun and the Moon through each of the four quadrants of the birth-chart and a definite four-fold rhythm of the solar and lunar forces in a person's nature. The time when the Sun each year crosses the natal angles is often a challenge to the psychological functions these angles symbolize — thus precipitating certain types of events. The birthday period every year — and the day when, every month, the Moon returns to her natal position — can usually be considered as times when the innate solar and lunar characteristics are given a new emphasis or revivified… Such charts are cast for the exact times at which the Sun and the Moon return to their positions at birth… Usually the solar or lunar return charts are calculated for the place of residence at the time, but I am not certain that this is always the best method; it seems that the locality of birth gives better results.

Collective Lunar Cycle is the standard lunar cycle, Personal Lunar Cycles basically establishes the natal Sun-Moon phase angle (distance from natal Sun to natal Moon — aka, natal moon phase) as your New Moon. (i never thought of this before and it took a moment to grok disseminating moon = new moon). my Sun {17GE22} is 263°22'17" from my Moon {10PI44}. i use Swetest to get astro data and convert values to decimals/degrees in Excel using: Visual Basic. or you can enter longitude [17°21'59.1624" & 10°44'16.6327"] in Windows Calculator [+]. first remove °'":

17°21'59.1624" → 17.21591624 ⇒ 17.366434
10°44'16.6327" → 10.44166327 ⇒ 10.737954

enter 17.21591624, select Inv, click dms to get decimal: 17.366434 &c. each sign = 30° and there are 8 signs between Gemini and Pisces, basic formula:

(30-17.366434)+(30*8)+10.737953 = 263.371519

enter formula in Windows Calc, click [=], click [dms] = 263.22174684

263.371519 → 263.22174684 ⇒ 263°22'17" = Sun-Moon phase angle

263°22'17" = Disseminating Moon (225º – 270º), corresponding EON Cycles 24, 25, 26, 27 (however, operating in EON Cycles 1, 2, 3, 4).

263° = 27. Waning Bi-Septile & Sun/Moon are above the horizon

Phase % Illuminated Degree Arc EON
New Moon 0% to 25% 0º – 45º 1,2,3,4

Gibbous Moon 75% to 100% 135º – 180º 14,15,16,17,18

Balsamic Moon 25% to 0% 315º – 0º 33,34,35,36

Dark Moon can mean different things, (a) Dark Moon Lilith, (b) hypothetical second body that was believed to move around the earth, or (c):

Dark Moon :: A dark moon describes the Moon during that time that it is invisible against the backdrop of the Sun in the sky. The duration of a dark moon is between 1.5 and 3.5 days, depending on the orientation of the Earth and Sun. In astronomical usage, the new moon occurs in the middle of this period, when the moon and sun are in conjunction. This definition has entered popular usage, so that calendars will typically indicate the date of the "new moon" rather than the "dark moon". However, originally "new moon" referred to the crescent on the first night it is visible, one or two days after conjunction. Maritime records from the nineteenth century distinguish the dark moon (no moon) from the new moon (young crescent).

prior to this exercise i thought the Lunar Dark Moon was a separate phase but now see it as a definite part of the Balsamic Moon Phase [balm]. most important, Balsamic is where the seed of a new cycle is released. use method outlined in Personal Lunar Cycles to calculate personal dark moon. i think you can also check birth location time zone for moon illumination — toggle between midnight/noon to see which day the moon is not illuminated prior to new moon [2011 Phases of the Moon].

what's unique about the Crescent Moon is the need by many cultures/relgions to determine Crescent Visibility, which may have a strong influence on that phase. recently, on the other side of the spectrum (possibly one being more feminine than the other?), there's been more interest in Dark Moon Invisibility [+][+]. interestingly, Lunar Phase Ovulation Method is based on a "natural fertile time" occuring during the same phase as your natal lunar phase. maybe if you're a Crescent or Dark Moon it's like the White Rabbit running late for a very important date. if i'm Disseminating Moon = New Moon then it's, "where's the light‽" (oh but look, where is the most light?). imo, things would get really interesting if a personal Crescent/Dark = Collective Crescent/Dark.

the reason i like the natal Sun-Moon phase angle: it's one way of determining true will, or maintaining the integrity of what Rudhyar calls the archetypal structure of our selfhood. so it's getting being born in a phase that may be out of synch with the collective phase cycling through the lunar phases that align, progress and return to your phase. checked out Aureal Williams blog & two things : that there is space above our heads & collective unconsciousness… is changing including the driving force of our reason to be.
