The 24 Gemini-Sag Lunar Eclipse, June 15, 2011 :: That this is an eclipse with Askalaphus-Nemesis involved stresses the concern about the cause of illness. The asteroid, Poseidon, is in 25 Pisces, and the TNP, Poseidon, is in dial opposition. There’s a strong Poseidon theme to this eclipse. Add the Poseidon-Apollonia and you are thinking about a blend of chemicals and water. Poseidon is also Light and, thus, RADIATION. One of the things that the eclipse wants to draw attention to then is the medical impact of radiation and “chemicals in the water.” (= Bacchus/Lilith, Rx [note: see Chariklo stellium below]: There can be problems associated with indecisive action stemming from denial of realities.) » June 2011 Configurations

Wescott states, While there may be some differences between Aesculapia, Askalaphus and Asclepius, you can use each of them to explore HEALTH matters and symptoms in a chart. However, the names & mythologies differ where Asclepius/Aesculapia corresponds with Danjon/Koronis conjunction & the Sun/Askalaphus conjunction incarnates Lilith (among other things) — Ascalaphus means "screech-owl" (related to Persephone [+][+] & Lilith), etymology for Asclepius is unknown (Zeus placed Asclepius among the stars as Ophiuchus):

(1027) Aesculapia (1923 YO11) : Main-belt Asteroid Discovered 1923 Nov. 11 by G. Van Biesbroeck at Williams Bay. Named for Aesculapius, the Roman god of medicine, son of Apollo {see planet (1862)} and Koronis {see planet (158)}.

(4581) Asclepius (1989 FC) : Apollo [NEO, PHA] Discovered 1989 Mar. 31 by H. E. Holt and N. G. Thomas at Palomar. Named for the Greek god of healing and medicine, son of Apollo by Coronis {see planets (1862) and (158)}. Physician to the Argonauts, many of whom he restored to life, he was killed by Zeus {see planet (5731)} with a thunderbolt for attempting to resuscitate Orion, who had been murdered by Artemis {see planet (105)}, Apollo’s twin sister. For avenging Asclepius’ murder by killing the Cyclops who had made the thunderbolt, Apollo was banished by Zeus. » Rod of Asclepius

(4435) Holt (1983 AG2) : Mars-crossing Asteroid Discovered 1983 Jan. 13 by C. S. Shoemaker at Palomar. Named for Henry E. Holt, planetary geologist with the U.S. Geological Survey and Northern Arizona University. As a member of the Surveyor and Apollo scientific teams, he investigated the detailed geology and photometric properties of the lunar surface. Since retiring from the Geological Survey, he has been a principal participant in the Palomar Asteroid and Comet Survey and is the discoverer or codiscoverer of six comets and numerous asteroids, including (4581) Asclepius, the numbered asteroid that has made the closest approach to the earth. [+] [+]

(4946) Askalaphus (1988 BW1) : Jupiter Trojan Discovered 1988 Jan. 21 by C. S. Shoemaker and E. M. Shoemaker at Palomar. Askalaphus, a son of the god Ares, became one of the Argonauts, and also participated in the Trojan War. With his brother, Ialmenos, he drew up thirty ships in line of battle. Askalaphus was killed when Deiphobus {see planet (1867)} ran him through the shoulder with his heavy spear. » Ascalaphus :: In Greek mythology, two people share the name Ascalaphus/Askalaphos... as the orchardist of Hades, informed other gods Persephone had eaten a pomegranate in Hades & was changed into an owl. » Ovid: Transformation of Ascalaphus into and Owl

Geek Trivia: Planet X marks the spot :: What name for a hypothetical 10th planet did several notablescience-fiction writers—including Douglas Adams {25924 Douglasadams}, Arthur C. Clarke {4923 Clarke}, and LarryNiven {12513 Niven, named for Ivan M. Niven} — coincidentally "agree" on? The name in question is Persephone

Danjon Stellium [+][+]

2011 Jun 15: Total Lunar Eclipse :: At the instant of greatest eclipse [5] the umbral eclipse magnitude [6] will reach 1.6998 as the Moon's centre passes within 5.3 arc-minutes of the shadow axis. The Moon's southern limb will lay 54.2 arc-minutes from the edge of the umbra while the northern limb will lay 22.3 arc-minutes from the umbra's edge. Thus, the northern regions of the Moon will probably appear brighter than the southern regions that lie deeper in the shadow. Since the Moon samples a large range of umbral depths during totality, its appearance will change dramatically with time. It is difficult to predict the exact brightness distribution in the umbra so observers are encouraged to estimate the Danjon value at different times during totality (see Danjon Scale of Lunar Eclipse Brightness). Note that it may also be necessary to assign different Danjon values to different portions of the Moon (i.e. - north vs. south).

Chariklo Stellium

Chiron and Friends - Chariklo :: I recently received a response from Jonathan Frakes with his birth time, and discovered he was born with Chariklo rising at 23 Sagittarius 51 R, with his Ascendant 19 Sagittarius 36. He has a stellium of Sun (26 Leo 44), Pluto (21 Leo 22), Moon (18 Leo 00) and Mercury (15 Leo 23 R), and while it may not be within 1 or 2 degrees, Chariklo is definitely trine at least Pluto and the Sun. Eruption at Nabro Volcano, Eritrea :: Nabro [Afar Depression (Eritrea, Ethiopia, Djibouti)], a stratovolcano in the northeast African nation of Eritrea, rumbled to life late in the evening on June 12, 2011, following a series of earthquakes. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Aqua satellite captured this natural-color image the next day. Initial reports from news agencies and the Volcanic Ash Advisory Center in Toulouse, France [VAAC Coverage map], proclaimed the eruption to be occurring at Dubbi, a volcano further south. But later reports from volcanologists, field scientists, and the satellite image above appear to confirm the eruption at Nabro. There are no historical reports of eruptions at Nabro before today. The volcano is part of a larger complex with several nested calderas nearby. It is part of the East African Rift, where the African continent is slowly pulling apart due to tectonic plate movements.

(2895) Memnon : 1981 AE1. Jupiter Trojan Discovered 1981 Jan. 10 by N. G. Thomas at Anderson Mesa. Named for a king of Ethiopia, who took 10,000 men to Troy to assist his uncle Priam in the Trojan War. Slayer of Antilochos, Nestor’s son, Memnon was killed in combat by Achilles. Name proposed by the discoverer, following a suggestion by E. Bowell. (4341) Poseidon : Apollo [NEO] Discovered 1987 May 29 by C. S. Shoemaker and E. M. Shoemaker at Palomar. In Greek mythology, Poseidon, a brother of Zeus {see planet (5731)}, was lord of the sea and of earthquakes (since the earth is shaken by waves beating on the shore). He ruled all that lived in the sea and gathered clouds and raised storms. Poseidon was the constant enemy of Troy during the Trojan War. » The Gods in the Iliad

(4834) Thoas : Jupiter Trojan (Greek camp) Discovered 1989 Jan. 11 by C. S. Shoemaker and E. M. Shoemaker at Palomar. Named for Thoas, the commander of the Aitolians, a tough man at spear-throwing, and eloquent in argument.
