apsû (or, abzu, absu, engur) is the underground stream in Sumerian mythology where Enki lived. Marduk called the firstborn son of the apsû also see Necronomicon (Marduk's titles: The Lord of Lords, Great Magician of the Gods, Master of Magicians & Lord of the double-headed Axe whose Sphere is Jupiter (Expansion)). INFIDEL = LIBER AL = MARDUK. absu also refers to the abyss. also see Apokrisis & ekkrisis here.

Straining my own credulity somewhat, could the dragon's exploding head explain how Austin Spare's curious eight-headed dragon, one of the heads being shown in Daäth being hit by the lightning bolt, became the seven-headed dragon of Revelation? Kenneth Grant, in Nightside of Eden, is similarily obscure. On p 8 he says that Daäth is "the Eighth Head of the Stooping Dragon, raised up when the Tree of Life was shattered and Macroprosopus set a flaming sword against Microprosopus." On p 43 Grant explains (I use the word loosely): "The Dragon whose eighth head reigns in Daäth is identical with the Beast 666. The male half is Shugal (333), the howler in the Desert of Set; the female half is Choronzon (333) or Typhon, the prototype of Babalon, the Scarlet Woman." There are further obscurities on the eight-headed dragon on pages 56 and 81 ("...blah blah Lovecraft ... blah blah Cthulhu ... blah blah Tunnels of Set ..."). —The Seven-Headed Dragon and the Demon Choronzon (KAOS 14; pdf).

Shogal/Shugal (jackal), connects Pazuzu to Set [1] (sage zard baradare shogal, "a yellow dog is the brother of a jackal").

The word shugal (lfgu$) was the gutter term for sexual intercourse. It was not pronounced aloud in public reading, but had a euphemistic term substituted for it. Why did Mr. "I will say anything" not unleash his tongue? Several suggestions could be made [2]

Hebrew shagal appears four times in the OT: once in Jeremiah 3:2 (Authorised Version) and three times as a variant (see Kethiv & Qere Readings):

 • Deuteronomy 28:30 Thou shalt betroth a wife, and another man shall lie <07901> (8799) (8675) <07693> (8799) with her: thou shalt build an house, and thou shalt not dwell therein: thou shalt plant a vineyard, and shalt not gather the grapes thereof.

 • Isaiah 13:16 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished <07901> (8735) (8675) <07693> (8735).

 • Jeremiah 3:2 Lift up thine eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been lien <07693> (8795) (8676) <07901> (8795) with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness.

 • Zechariah 14:2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished <07901> (8735) (8675) <07693> (8735); and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

07693 ShGL shagal, a primitive root; used in Authorised Version as: be lien 1, variant 3; 4 times; 1) to violate, ravish; 1a) (Qal) to violate, ravish; 1b) (Niphal) to be ravished; 1c) (Pual) to be ravished.

07901 ShKB shakab, a primitive root; used in AV: AV-lie 106, sleep 48, lie down 43, rest 3, lien 2, misc 10; 212; 1) to lie down; 1a) (Qal) 1a1) to lie, lie down, lie on; 1a2) to lodge; 1a3) to lie (of sexual relations); 1a4) to lie down (in death); 1a5) to rest, relax (fig); 1b) (Niphal) to be lain with (sexually); 1c) (Pual) to be lain with (sexually); 1d) (Hiphil) to make to lie down; 1e) (Hophal) to be laid.

08675 Kethiv Readings :: In the Hebrew Bible, the scribes did not alter any text they felt had been copied incorrectly. Rather they noted in the margin what they thought the written text should be. The written variation is called a kethiv and the marginal note is called the qere. Where the translators of the Authorised Version followed the qere reading rather than the kethiv, we indicate the kethiv reading by the number 08675. For example, in Gen 24:33 "was set" is coded as 07760 08675 03455. The translators used the qere reading that has Strong’s number 07760 but the kethiv reading is Strong’s number 03455. Both words have the same meaning, "was set".

08676 Qere Readings :: In the Hebrew Bible, the scribes did not alter any text they felt had been copied incorrectly. Rather they noted in the margin what they thought the written text should be. The written variation is called a kethiv and the marginal note is called the qere. Where the translators of the Authorised Version followed the kethiv reading rather than the qere, we indicate the qere reading by the number 08676. For example, in Deu 19:6 "blood" is coded as 01818 08676 05315. The translators followed the kethiv reading that has Strong’s number 01818, which means "blood", but the qere reading is Strong’s number 05315, which means "life".

[J]ackal was an Egyptian type of the dark one that devoured by night, and of Sut, the thief of light in the moon, he who swallowed the Eye of Horus. Jackal and fox are co-types, and they have one name, that of Shugal, the howler, in Hebrew [3]

"Goetic," in Modern English, can either mean pertaining to goety or denote someone who practices goety, a better word for which is "goetist" or the more proper form "goetian." Either of these would literally translate to howler or one who howls [4]

Greek howl words:

 • James 5:1 Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl (Greek ololuzo howl, wail, lament; appears once in NT) for your miseries that shall come upon you.

 • 2 Timothy 3:13 But evil men and seducers (goes from goao (to wail); used only once in NT (seducer); wailer, howler ; juggler, enchanter (because incantations used to be uttered in a kind of howl); deceiver, imposter) shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

 • 1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring (oruomai to roar, to howl; of men, to raise a loud and inarticulate cry: either of grief, or of joy; to sing with a loud voice) lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

 • Mark 5:38 And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and seeth the tumult (thorubos), and them that wept (klaio; synonym of alalazo from alale (a shout, "halloo"); to repeat frequently the cry "alala" as soldiers used to do on entering into battle; to wail in oriental style, to howl in a consecrated, semi-liturgical fashion) and wailed alalazo greatly. [Jairus' daughter was sick & Jesus was going to heal her. on the way, a woman with an "issue of blood" touched his garment & was instantly healed. while this was happening, someone reported that Jairus' daughter had died. Jesus says the girl is not dead, but sleeping. when he says the words Talitha Cumi the girl rises].

 • 1 Corinthians 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling alalazo cymbal.

in Hebrew, 03213 yalal "howl, wail, make a howling"; appears 29 times in the OT; first appears in Isaiah 13:6 Howl (yalal) ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. also appears in Isaiah 14:12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning (shachar dawn; Qere; yalal; Hiphil)! Qere refers to Qere & Kethiv Readings: Hebrew scribes did not alter incorrect text but wrote alternative text (kethiv )in the margin (qere); the Authorised Version of the Bible uses kethiv readings. Hiphil expresses the "causative" action of Qal (Qal: he came; Hiphil: he caused to come, he brought) + Isaiah 14:31 Howl (yalal), O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times + Micah 1:8 Therefore I will wail and howl (yalal), I will go stripped and naked: I will make a wailing like the dragons, and mourning as the owls. (add: Jeremiah 49:3 Howl (YLL), O Heshbon, for Ai is spoiled).

Howling also related to Lilith & Owls:

 • Leviticus 11:17 And the little owl (03563: kowc cup or owl; from an unused root meaning to hold together), and the cormorant (07994: shalak bird of prey; from 07993 shalak throw, cast, hurl, fling), and the great owl (03244: yanshuwph great owl, eared owl; from 05398 nashaph to blow)

 • Deuteronomy 14:16 The little owl (03563), and the great owl (03244), and the swan (08580: tanshemeth swan; perhaps the chameleon; from 05395 nasham to pant, of a woman in travail or labour; appears once in Isaiah 42:14)

 • Isaiah 34:11 But the cormorant and the bittern shall possess it; the owl yanshuwph also and the raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the stones of emptiness.

 • Isaiah 34:14 The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest.

the screech owl in Isaiah 34:14 is the only time the word 03917 LYLYTh liyliyth appears. from Strong's Concordance: "Lilith, name of a female goddess known as a night demon who haunts the desolate places of Edom; might be a nocturnal animal that inhabits desolate places". LYLYTh from LYL "night; gloom, protective shadow"; same as LVL "staircase, winding stair, shaft or enclosed space with steps or ladder; from an unused root meaning to fold back"; used once in 1 Kings 6:8 ("winding stairs").

Isaiah 34:14 The wild beasts of the desert (06728) shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island (0338), and the satyr (08163) shall cry (07121) (8799) to his fellow (07453); the screech owl (03917) also shall rest (07280) (8689) there, and find (04672) (8804) for herself a place of rest (04494).

 • 06728 tsiyiy a wild beast, desert-dweller, crier, yelper.

 • 0338 'iy howling beast, jackal; Hebrew AL, probably identical with 0337 (through the idea of a doleful sound); 0337 AL alas!, woe!; short from 0188 AVY woe! alas! oh!; passionate cry of grief or despair; probably from 0183 (in the sense of crying out after); 0183 AVH used 26 times in the bible for "desire" (17 times), "lust" (4), "longed" (3) & "covet " (2).

 • 08163 ShOYR from 08175 ShOR sa'ar to storm, shiver, dread, bristle (with horror), be very afraid; used as "whirlwind" twice in Psalms 58:9 & Daniel 11:40; "whirlwind" appears 25 times using different words: 05590 ca'ar [root], 05591 ca'ar, 05492 cuwphah & 07307 ruwach.
