asteroid #766-MOGUNTIA

asteroid #766-MOGUNTIA trines TRIPAXEPTALIS on Cycle #24 representing PAX in the triPax-septAlice (Hendoku-Iyaku) formula. asteroid IRANI was at this position during Cycle #23. trine aspects are 120° harmonic angles & MOGUNTIA currently transiting Science, the largest portion of the H(x) Function at 120°.

TRINE :: MOGUNTIA {18SG17Rx} — 119º46'23" from TRIPAXEPTALIS @ EON-12 : Maturation, Cosmic Intent, Higher Spin, Catalysing

MOGUNTIA was also part of my Sunspot Numerology countdown to #777-GUTEMBERGA last year. at that time i knew MOGUNTIA was the Latin name for Mainz, Germany, but didn't check much further. considering the alleged massacre in Haditha, the hidden massacre of Fallujah, & the recent incentive package presented to Iran, the Roman castrum is the thing that stands out the most this time around. the Roman castra is a military camp maintained by engineering units & officered by the architecti (chief engineers) — "all subsequent military camps in western history were modeled" after it. Romans developed different types of camps; short-term: tertia castra (camp of three days), quarta castra (camp of four days); long-term: castra stativa (standing camps), castra aestiva (summer camps), castra hiberna (winter camps). "If there is any single reason for Roman victory over the peoples of Europe, it may well be the castra. The camp allowed the Romans to keep a rested and supplied army in the field."

castrum Moguntiacum founded by Roman general Drusus. it was the provincial capital of Germania Superior ("Upper Germania"), which included western Switzerland (see: HELVETIA) & played an important strategic role in the Roman empire ("one of the great historical cities of Germany"; Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia). Johann Gutenberg (#777-GUTEMBERGA) born & died here, Pope Joan might may have been born here, & an important center for Talmudic scholarship.

kinda sketchy on the Roman Empire, so forgive me if i get some of this wrong. here's a map of the Roman Empire. Romans were never able to conquer Germania. on this map, "Germania inf." refers to Germania Inferior & "Germania sup." refers to Germania Superior, both occupied by the Romans. another map illustrates Magna Germania, "the free Germania". Battle of the Teutoburg Forest established the Rhine as the boundary of the Roman Empire. this was a devasting Roman defeat killing 20,000 Roman soldiers (Augustus apparent response: Quintili Vare, legiones redde!"). causing Rome to strengthen fortifications along the Germania Superior called Limes Germanicus (Germanic frontier) & that's where the Roman castra comes into play.

Alamanni forces sacked MOGUNTIA in 368. asteroid #418-ALEMANNIA named for a fraternity at Heidelberg University, but may be related to Alamannia. Niccolò Alamanni, custodian of the Vatican Library & editor of the The Secret History.

the Vandals would eventually sack Rome in 455, but in 406 they & other Germanic tribes crossed the Rhine at Mainz leading to the sack of Trier, Germany's oldest city situated on the western bank of the Moselle River (where the Schengen Agreement [+] was signed onboard the ship Princesse Marie-Astrid in 1985). this event the basis for Eagle in the Snow novel & Gladiator film.

Asteroids #5-ASTRAEA, #658-ASTERIA, #672-ASTARTE

Astaroth appears as an ugly angel riding a dragon and holding a viper in his left hand. It is thought that this powerful grand-duke presides over 40 legions, and possibly over the East and is treasurer of hell. The Sidonians and Phlistines worshipped him in the past. Wierus mentions that he knows of past and future events, secret things, liberal arts, and the story of creation and the fall of the angels. He also believes he received an unjust punishment. Some magicians say he procures the goodwill of great lords and can be summoned on Wednesday. He is said to emit a powerful fetid odor, and to endure that, the magician should hold a silver magical ring that prevents odors under his nose. Astaroth is cited as one of the seven princes of hell who visited Faust, appearing as a serpent with a colored tail, two small feet, a chestnut neck, and spines similar to a hedgehog that can grow up to a finger's length. As his feminine counterpart, Astarte, he is portrayed with a heifer's head.

That Semiramis, under the name of Astarte, was worshipped not only as an incarnation of the Spirit of God, but as the mother of mankind, we have very clear and satisfactory evidence. There is no doubt that "the Syrian goddess" was Astarte (LAYARD'S Nineveh and its Remains, vol. ii. p. 456). Now, the Assyrian goddess, or Astarte, is identified with Semiramis by Athenagoras (Legatio, vol. ii. p. 179), and by Lucian (De Dea Syria, vol iii. p. 382). These testimonies in regard to Astarte, or the Syrian goddess, being, in one aspect, Semiramis, are quite decisive. 1. The name Astarte, as applied to her, has reference to her as being Rhea or Cybele, the tower-bearing goddess, the first, as Ovid says (Opera, vol. iii., Fasti, lib. iv. ll. 219, 220), that "made (towers) in cities;" for we find from Layard, at the page above referred to, that in the Syrian temple of Hierapolis, "she [Dea Syria or Astarte] was represented standing on a lion crowned with towers." Now, no name could more exactly picture forth the character of Semiramis, as queen of Babylon, than the name of "Asht-tart," for that just means "The woman that made towers." It is admitted on all hands that the last syllable "tart" comes from the Hebrew verb "Tr." It has been always taken for granted, however, that "Tr" signifies only "to go round." But we have evidence that, in nouns derived from it, it also signifies "to be round," "to surround," or "encompass." In the masculine, we find "Tor" used for "a border or row of jewels round the head" (see PARKHURST, sub voce No. ii., and also GESENIUS). And in the feminine, as given in Hesychius (Lexicon, p. 925), we find the meaning much more decisively brought out: Turis ho peribolos tou teichous. Turis is just the Greek form of Turit, the final t, according to the genius of the Greek language, being converted into s. Ash-turit, then, which is obviously the same as the Hebrew "Ashtoreth," is just "The woman that made the encompassing wall." Considering how commonly the glory of that achievement, as regards Babylon, was given to Semiramis, not only by Ovid (Opera Metam., lib. iv. fab. 4. 1. 58, vol. ii. p. 177), but by Justin, Dionysius, Afer, and others, both the name and mural crown on the head of that goddess were surely very appropriate. In confirmation of this interpretation of the meaning of the name Astarte, I may adduce an epithet applied to the Greek Diana, who at Ephesus bore a turreted crown on her head, and was identified with Semiramis, which is not a little striking. It is contained in the following extract from Livy (lib. xliv. cap. 44, vol. vi. pp. 57, 58): "When the news of the battle [near Pydna] reached Amphipolis, the matrons ran together to the temple of Diana, whom they style Tauropolos, to implore her aid." Tauropolos, from Tor, "a tower," or "surrounding fortification," and Pol, "to made," plainly means the "tower-maker," or "maker of surrounding fortifications;" and to her as the goddess of fortifications, they would naturally apply when they dreaded an attack upon their city. [+]

The Protestant mythographer Alexander Hislop elevated Semiramis to a cosmic feature; in his book The Two Babylons, Hislop attempts to demonstrate that Semiramis and Nimrod, briefly mentioned in the Book of Genesis as a "mighty hunter before the LORD," are identical to Isis and Osiris, or Astarte and Tammuz. Semiramis goes on to become the Blessed Virgin Mary according to Hislop's version of the tale; most of the world's mythical figures are retellings of the tale of Semiramis and Nimrod. This mythography is supposed to demonstrate that Roman Catholicism is in fact paganism. Few accept Hislop's fanciful mythography today, but his version of the story continues to be recirculated in Jack Chick's tracts and comic books. [+]

And the sign of the rising waters on earth was accompanied by a sign in heaven. For in the early days of Egyptian history, some three or four thousand years before the beginning of our era, the splendid star of Sirius, the brightest of all the fixed stars, appeared at dawn in the east just before sunrise about the time of the summer solstice, when the Nile begins to rise. The Egyptians called it Sothis, and regarded it as the star of Isis, just as the Babylonians deemed the planet Venus the star of Astarte. To both peoples apparently the brilliant luminary in the morning sky seemed the goddess of life and love come to mourn her departed lover or spouse and to wake him from the dead. Hence the rising of Sirius marked the beginning of the sacred Egyptian year, and was regularly celebrated by a festival which did not shift with the shifting official year. [+]

Dinah, the Non-Tribe

Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog (Psalm 22:20).

the Hendoku-Iyaku asteroids for Cycle #24 MOGUNTIA (triPax), VINDEMIATRIX (septAlice) & PFUND (mid-point) are another interesting group of asteroids. MOGUNTIA & PFUND are both Germanic & VINDEMIATRIX is in Virgo. i'm struggling to bring together all the facts i know about VINDEMIATRIX & Virgo to write up something more coherent (& less wordy!) here. so this is sorta like a brain dump post. imho, think the essential point about VINDEMIATRIX is understanding the connection between Virgo-Libra-Scorpio — (from Anne Wright's Fixed Stars site, which provides a good overview). i remember reading a mythology book years ago saying something about the Greeks doing something weird with the Zodiac. they "hid" something in the Zodiac? anyway, Libra was added between Virgo-Scorpio with different cultures & myths taking credit.

thumbnail sketch: Virgo primarily associated with Astraea who represented Justice. last of the gods to leave the Earth, she left in disgust becoming the Virgo constellation with her scales creating Libra. Libra used to be part of Scorpio ("That Libra was once part of Scorpio is evident from the Arabic names of the stars; alpha and beta, the two brightest stars in the constellation"). Zuben Elgenubi (alpha) is the southern Scale of Libra called "The Insufficient Price"; Zubenelschemali (beta) is the Northern Scale of Libra called "The Full Price" — the Greeks knew these as the Chelae, the Claws of the Scorpion.

Wright notes that the Dogon associate Scorpio with "surgical operations, the removal of the clitoris [...] The poison-sac and sting symbolize the organ, the poison being the blood and liquid released by the operation". i think that illustrates how dramatic—and intrusive—Libra's addition to the Zodiac could have been & why i think of Scorpio being "circumcised'.

i've always been fascinated by the story of Dinah & Shechem in the OT; their names mean Judged & Shoulder or Back (from root meaning "to rise or start early"). Dinah is not included in the 12 Tribes & not explicitly included in the Zodiac. Genesis 34: {a} Shechem "violates" Dinah, {b} he tells his father (Hamor), "Get me this girl as my wife", {c} Hamor talks to Dinah's father (Jacob) but the family is ashamed by Dinah's disgrace (Shechem's a Hivite), {d} Hamor says "Intermarry with us"; {e} Shechem says, "Make the price for the bride and the gift I am to bring as great as you like, and I'll pay whatever you ask me. Only give me the girl as my wife.

the price was circumcision.

the entire city gets circumcised. while they're still in pain, Jacob's two sons Simeon & Levi attack, kill Hamor & Shechem, remove Dinah from Shechem's house & loot the city. Jacob's upset, but Simeon & Levi respond: "Should he have treated our sister like a prostitute?". from Ishtar, Inanna, & Ancient Astrology, "Istar, Babylonian, 'Star' was the Great Goddess who appears as Ashtoreth, Anath, Asherah. She was refered to as the Great Whore, and described in Revelation 17:5 as Babylon the Great, the Mother of Harlots. Another of her titles was the Goddess Har, who called herself the compassionate prostitute." see: Scorpio & the Love Dragon.

some think Genesis 46:10 Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman, refers to Dinah's son by Shechem. שואל (Shaul; "desired"; pass part of שאל "to ask, enquire, borrow, beg; practise beggary; to be given on request; to grant). contrast this with Dinhabah ("give thou judgement"; Robbers' den, an Edomitish city, the capital of king Bela ("destruction") Genesis 36:32 & 1 Chronicles 1:43). more info at JewishEncyclopedia.com. but John Gill thinks, "this is impossible: according to the Targum of Jonathan, this Shaul was Zimri, who did the work of the Canaanites at Shittim, Numbers 25:14, which is not at all likely, the distance of time will not admit of it". however, Numbers 25 is just as strange. Zimri (son of Salu) brings a Midianite woman (Cozbi, daughter of Zur) to his tent & both are killed when Phinehas ("mouth of brass"; from root meaning "to cleave in pieces, break into pieces, shatter") strikes a javelin through both of them, while they're having sex. Zimri means "my music"; Salu means "weighed"; Cozbi means "my lie" & Zur means "rock" from root meaning "to bind, besiege, confine, cramp; be an adversary; to form, fashion, delineate".

why, do i find all this so interesting? Shechem is "the most beautiful, perhaps the only very beautiful, spot in Central Palestine" ... "it is one of the oldest cities of the world. It is the modern Nablus (map), a contraction for Neapolis, the name given to it by Vespasian". Nablus "is one of the largest Palestinian population centers in the Middle East. Shechem is sometimes used as its name in English. The city lies 63 km north of Jerusalem, between Mount Ebal and Mount Gerizim. Ancient Shechem is located in the eastern part of the modern city, in a site known as Tal Balatah. An ancient city with a rich history, Nablus is a site of religious significance to the three major Abrahamic faiths, and is also a scene of political instability related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict". or, in other words, here's the location for most of Genesis' plot-points: {a} God confirms his covenant with Abram, {b} Joseph buried here, {c} Jacob's Well, {d} Oak of Meonenim (oak of the sorcerer) & from the NT, Jesus & the woman at the well. currently, Nablus has 60%-80% unemployment, an Israeli NGO says it's "the infrastructure center of Palestinian terrorists", Palestinians regard themselves as under Israeli military occupation. in 2002 a suicide bomber kills 31. in response, Operation Defensive Shield is the largest military operation conducted by Israel since the 1967 Six-Day War & within 24 hours 20,000 emergency call-up notices issued, also the largest since 1982 Lebanon War.

MOGUNTIA is the Latin name for a German city & PFUND is a German surname meaning "pound" (city pound? dog pound? "in the doghouse"?). Vindemiatrix helps form the 11th Arabic lunar mansion [Picatrix: Alahue] called the "kennel":

Delta (Auva), with eta (Zaniah), gamma (Porrima), epsilon (this star Vindemiatrix), outlined a "Kennel", of the "Dogs" [Eric Morse in The Living stars says this Kennel has brothel associations, see Zaniah], and formed the Arabic 11th manzil, Al 'Awwa', "The barker". Vindemiatrix marked the eastern boundary of the Arabic 11th manzil [Influences: Gives benevolence, gain, voyages, harvests and freedom of captives. With Moon transiting here; sow, plant, take medicine but do not travel or marry. (Robson)]. (Allen). [+]

This group of stars formed the Arabic 11th manzil, Al 'Awwa' (1), "the Barker", or "the Howler" and were considered of good omen. [+]

A string of stars to the northwest of Spica in Virgo (Vindemiatrix, Delta Virginis, Porrima, Zaniah, and Beta Virginis) called "awwa" by the Arabians of old (which vaguely refers to a kennel and a barking dog, though the meaning is disputed) makes a sharp bend at Porrima, which in honor of the "turning" was once named Zavijava, "the angle." [+]

"Goetic," in Modern English, can either mean pertaining to goety or denote someone who practices goety, a better word for which is "goetist" or the more proper form "goetian." Either of these would literally translate to howler or one who howls. [+]

Dog :: Frequently mentioned both in the Old and New Testaments. Dogs were used by the Hebrews as a watch for their houses (Isa 56:10), and for guarding their flocks (Job 30:1). There were also then as now troops of semi-wild dogs that wandered about devouring dead bodies and the offal of the streets (Kg1 14:11; Kg1 16:4; Kg1 21:19, Kg1 21:23; Kg1 22:38; Psa 59:6, Psa 59:14). As the dog was an unclean animal, the terms "dog," "dog's head," "dead dog," were used as terms of reproach or of humiliation (Sa1 24:14; Sa2 3:8; Sa2 9:8; Sa2 16:9). Paul calls false apostles "dogs" (Phi 3:2). Those who are shut out of the kingdom of heaven are also so designated (Rev 22:15). Persecutors are called "dogs" (Psa 22:16). Hazael's words, "Thy servant which is but a dog" (Kg2 8:13), are spoken in mock humility = impossible that one so contemptible as he should attain to such power. [+]
