The Great Attractor is a gravitational anomaly in intergalactic space, at the centre of the local supercluster, which is drawing in galaxies over a region hundreds of millions of light years across. These galaxies are all redshifted ... located between 150 million and 250 million light years (250 million is the most recent estimate), in the direction of the Hydra and Centaurus constellations. In its vicinity there is a preponderance of large old galaxies, many of which are colliding with their neighbours, and/or radiating large amounts of radio waves. t is dominated by the Norma Cluster (ACO 3627) ... located 7 degrees away from the plane of the Milky Way.

zone of avoidance :: A band around the sky in which very few extragalactic objects can be seen at visible wavelengths because of the heavy absorption of light by dust in the plane of the Milky Way. The zone of avoidance is by no means regular, varying width from about 38° in the direction of the center of our Galaxy (in Sagittarius) to about 12°. Additionally, there are a number of galactic windows in the zone that are relatively free of obscuring material and therefore offer a clear view of the outside universe.

The Universe at Midnight :: "We knew that finding galaxies behind the Milky Way would be very difficult," said Renee Kraan-Korteweg, a Dutch-born astronomer at the University of Guanajuato in Mexico. "At optical wavelengths, it was not believed possible to uncover these galaxies, because they would be so hard to see." Indeed, this daunting region which girdled the sky had long been labeled the "zone of avoidance," since galaxies seemed to shun it. "The Norma cluster is like Manhattan in New York," said Kraan-Korteweg: "the business district with all the tall buildings." The cluster abounds with giant elliptical galaxies, the celestial equivalent of skyscrapers, which throng the richest galaxy clusters. The Norma cluster isn't the Great Attractor any more than Manhattan is New York City; it accounts for only a tenth of the Great Attractor's mass, but it does mark the monster's heart—supergalactic downtown.

NORMA ET REGULA (The Level and Square) :: Located in the Milky Way, south of Scorpius and added by La Caille, 1752. Sometimes called Quadra Euclidis, Euclid's Square, but now generally known as Norma. "Norma et Regula" refers to the carpenter's tools: the square and the level.

User:Dan :: I have similar problems with the word "normal". Some quotes from pballew.net (I will of course remove them if the author objects): Norma was the latin word for what we now call a carpenter's square. It was used to construct lines which were at right angles to another line, so the created line was said to be "normal". The norma was also used as a standard to compare if objects, like a wall, might be erect (perpendicular to the ground) and so those that met the standard were called "normal" and this use extended to the "typical" element of any type of set. Eventually normal came to mean anything that "met the standard".

Norma (Latin for Normal, i.e. right angle), is a small and inconspicuous constellation that lies in the southern hemisphere close to Scorpius. The Milky Way passes through it. In English the constellation is variously known as The Rule, The Carpenter's Square, The Set Square and The Level ... This constellation was named by Nicolas Louis de Lacaille during his stay at the Cape of Good Hope from 1751 to 1752.

The Great Attractor :: Among the many strange marvels of the sign that contains the galactic center is another galactic point called the Great Attractor, located at about Sagittarius 14 degrees and two minutes ... People born with the Sun, Moon, ascendant or another important planet close to, or aspecting, this point will often find that they have a polarizing effect on people around them, making unusually close friends and intense enemies as well. They can give the impression that they hold the key to the mystery of the universe, correctly or not. "The perception is that people on the Great Attractor have unusual appeal or potency. They find themselves in vast circles, accidentally. Or they have impacted masses of people and think they have created no influence in their lives whatsoever," [Philip Sedgwick] said.

It is beyond words, but if you think about what the term "juxtapositional magick" might mean, and indeed cast a sigil to understand it (as simple as that), you will begin to glimpse things that come under the heading of "juxtapositional magick". But for now: take a moment to study your room whereever you are reading this and take in the juxtapositions that are already present. Make connections, join up things, visualize a collection of objects as a one object, loosen the boundaries of objects. Notice your world and it's juxtapositions. Juxtapositional magick is not something one learns overnight, it is a lifetime's work, you must realise I can't explain that to you, you must see it with your own eyes. Don't seek explanations, seek juxtapositions and study the natural placement of objects in the world. The act of noticing should be a daily task until it becomes natural, even if you have no idea what the juxtapositions mean all you have to do is notice them. Understanding comes later. Then you can learn to manipulate juxtapositions and learn to be a juxtapositional magician. Make a juxtapositional altar, which is one that grows spontaneously over time without thought and is only one day noticed as such. If you already have aptitude for this art then you will see that you have already formed a juxtapositional magick altar without even realising it. Any conscious effort to create such an altar will only destroy the possibility of producing it, so if you feel the urge to create one and can't see that you have one already then simply forget about creating one and concentrate on noticing juxtapositions, then in time you will see where you have created your juxtapositional alter. This is the essence of the power of juxtapositional magick, it gives method to sponaneity.

Juxtapositional magick is my own formulation derived from many different systems of magick over many years, and certainly the Chinese concept of li or "pattern" feeds into that, but to mention such advanced concepts to a self-proclaimed beginner would be out of place, so I simply provided a sketch to get him going. A post couldn't possibly exhaust juxtapositional magick.

Yes, and the art of "correspondences" are also equally as important in bagua/trigrams, but although these methods do certainly relate to what I refer to as juxtapositional magick what I am really talking about here is something far more "second-nature" and tuned-in, real moving with spontaneity without thought. Study of trigram correspondences can lead to this, but in itself it lacks the sheer elegance of true juxtapositional magick, which operates in the sense of wuwei (no effort). I am talking about something far more direct than going via a symbolic filter of correspondences or resonances, or any kind of symbolic framework. In this sense, by juxtapositional magick I really mean pure magick.

A Wrinkle in Time is a children's fantasy novel by Madeleine L'Engle, written in 1962. It is the first in her series of books about the Murry family. Ancient Mosaics: In Egypt and Mesopotamia, furniture, small architectural features, and jewelry were occasionally adorned with inset bits of enamel, glass, and colored stone.
